Denise Crescini: Remembering a Life of Commitment to Education and Public Service

Denise Crescini, a face known to everyone in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, died at the age of 72.

“The end of a life of commitment to education and public schools”, comments several Villefranche associations* who wanted to pay tribute to him.

Originally from the Decazeville Basin, Denise ended her career as director of the La Chartreuse nursery school in Villefranche, after teaching in Maleville and at the Haute Guyenne nursery school. “Passionate about her profession, she knew how to combine rigor and kindness to give her young students a good foundation. Dynamic and altruistic, she was involved in voluntary activities until the end.”

In retirement, she accompanied classes to the swimming pool for a long time alongside the teachers. Attached to public schools, Denise was also the National Education delegate to the Pendariès nursery school council, whose developments she assiduously followed. A member of the Secular Family Association, she participated in information activities for parents on educational issues.

“A very strong commitment”

“Denise also had a very strong commitment to literacy,” as those who knew her recall. Convinced of the necessity of learning French for good integration, for many years she has been providing courses at Village 12 to foreign adults with whom she had established strong ties. Despite health problems, she wanted to prioritize this activity. His participation in the Villefranchois Migrant Aid Collective was valuable.

Many of those who knew Denise and worked with her will remember her as a beautiful person, endearing, active, optimistic, open to others and who took so much pleasure in talking with everyone. Today they express their deep sadness. They send their “friendly condolences and assure them of their support” to Jean-Claude, her husband and her children.
