When asked which tennis player fits best in a white outfit, Denis Shapovalov doesn’t have to think long and names Roger Federer. His answer, however, is not accepted by the production team.

Which tennis player is the best when it comes to wearing an all-white outfit? The tennis world association ATP recently investigated this not necessarily everyday question and put it to those directly involved, such as the Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

The current world number 29 does not have to think long about it. ‘I think Roger. It just looks clean on him, »says Shapovalov. Apparently, his answer doesn’t really satisfy the production team. “Can you name an active player? Replies the interviewer, pointing out that Federer has resigned. For Shapovalov, however, this triggers horror. “How dare you?” he asks, eyes wide.

“You just broke everyone’s heart”

“We agree with you,” says the Shapovalov camera team. But it has to be a name that still competes against him today. “Oh my god, you didn’t really say that just now? You just broke everyone’s heart,” Shapovalov jokes, laughing and making it clear to the interviewers: “He hasn’t resigned in our hearts, okay?”

Shapovalov later followed up on Twitter and wrote about the posted video: “Still shocked.” The sympathies of the (Federer) fans are then certain. “Thank you, you understand us. Still heartbroken,” writes one user. Another says: “You can’t take Federer out of tennis. Never.”
