He posted a photo on his Facebook account Monday of the new “for sale” sign outside his property.
“For the sake of transparency, and since the media are asking me the question, it is no longer a secret that Revenu Québec imposed a legal mortgage of $133,000.00,” he wrote.
“The matter will be resolved shortly,” he added.
The Montreal North house was built in 1986 and is sold for $749,800, according to a listing on Centris. It has four bedrooms and a garage on a 4,000 square foot lot.
Several media outlets reported on Mr. Coderre’s tax problems last month, but at the time, the former mayor remained very discreet, citing a “confidentiality agreement.”
He previously said the problems with Revenu Quebec would be resolved by January, before the start of the Liberal leadership race. The party, currently led by Marc Tanguay, will choose its next leader in the summer of 2025.

At the Quebec Liberal Party caucus in September, Liberal MP Désirée McGraw — who is supporting longtime federal minister Pablo Rodriguez for party leadership — said Mr. Coderre had disqualified himself as a leadership candidate of the liberal party by not paying his taxes.
A Léger/Quebecor poll published almost two weeks ago placed Mr. Coderre in second position in voting intentions in Quebec for the party leadership, behind Mr. Rodriguez.
