At the microphone of Top Marine & Blanc (ARL), Denis Balbir gave his feeling on the aspect foot business by declaring himself worried for the Girondins of Gérard Lopez:
“The problem today is having to deal with people who want to do business around a club with more or less clear ideas, even more or less honest and with sometimes limited knowledge of football. I think that the Girondins club is in danger. It is a club where it does not perhaps draw enough of the regional potential. We try to tinker, we try a blow with Ben Arfa knowing that in the long run it will be a blow to sword in the water. Someone like Paulo Sousa is brought in surrounded by intermediaries. There was money circulating between agents and intermediaries. We made a healthy club unhealthy. This club which played the leading roles today plays the maintenance. We see old-timers who are there but who do not manage to pull out of the game. The Girondins can easily fall into the bad side. I am willing to read interviews with Gérard Lopez who tells us that everything will go well and gradually but I believe in it moderately. I hope I am wrong because the Girondins are a great club. Of course, football needs money, but that does not mean that history should be trampled on. “
