Dengue cases are increasing more and more in our city. Days ago, the Secretary of Human Development, Dr. Gabriel Cáceres, confirmed the viral circulation of the disease, registering more than 60 cases scattered in different neighborhoods of the city.
Given this, many residents resort to prevention methods to avoid becoming infected. The most sought after are repellents, according to a local pharmacist, in dialogue with Diario CASTELLANOS.
One of the most common repellents is the “OFF” cream, in a small pot, which currently costs around $1,800. Meanwhile, the “OFF” aerosol costs $3,900.
Then, as mentioned above, there are some that have a higher price, such as the “OFF Defense”, which are the ones that last the longest on the skin, they are approximately $9,000.
Then there are children’s repellents, which have Icaridin, which are the ones that children can use. Those cost $11,500, because it’s a spray. “Spray and aerosol formulations are always more expensive than cream formulations,” said the professional.
Finally, baby repellents, from Aulo Gelio and which have citronella, cost approximately $3,900.
Vaccine and spirals
Meanwhile, another prevention method that was highly anticipated is the dengue vaccine. It is available in city pharmacies at an approximate cost of $70,000.
Furthermore, although they do not guarantee as much coverage as the previous ones, spirals and tablets are sold to reinforce the home environment.
Despite the prices of the different alternatives, the pharmacist said that people turn to them. “It is for sale, they are buying everything,” she said.
Constant increases
These types of products vary in price constantly, increasing more and more. The professional explained that “the price increases are directly due to the price set by the supplier at the drugstore and each pharmacy acquires it according to the drugstores with which it works. They are always more or less similar, but it may be that one of the suppliers launches an offer or a slightly cheaper value and you can get that value, but if not, they are the prices that are used everywhere.”
Finally, he indicated that the ideal is that no more increases be recorded in the future, although he considers that this is probably the case because in recent times the increases in pharmacy “have been enormous, so it would be an important issue if this were not the case,” he concluded. .
