Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Epidemic in Klungkung Regency: 12 Patients Hospitalized

Klungkung – Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is again an epidemic in Klungkung Regency. As many as 12 DHF patients are still undergoing treatment at the Klungkung Regional General Hospital (RSUD) until Monday morning (12/6/2023).

Widiasa explained that the number of DHF patients in Klungkung fluctuates every month, more than 60 cases. In January, 66 cases were recorded, February (61), March (67), April (65). New dengue cases fell in May to 46 cases.

According to Widiasa, DHF cases will increase when the weather gets worse. “As recently, even though it’s summer, it often rains in Klungkung. Cases are rising again, there is even one patient other than DB also experiencing diarrhea,” he explained.

A family of DHF patients, Nyoman Dirgayasa, admitted that their child is currently being treated at the Klungkung Hospital since Sunday afternoon (11/6/2023). Before being hospitalized, his 17-year-old son’s body temperature fluctuated.

“It was hot back and forth. Starting yesterday being treated, the doctor said his platelets had dropped,” said Dirgayusa.

Dirgayusa suspected that his son was bitten by a mosquito outside the housing. What’s more, the class IX high school student in Klungkung participated in many activities at his school. “From the Health Service earlier at 6 in the morning I checked the house. There were no signs of mosquitoes causing DB at home,” he added.
