Jombang, VIVA – The number of victims who died due to the dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) virus in Jombang Regency, East Java, has reached 9 people.
However, the Jombang Regency Government (Pemkab) has not yet raised the status of this situation to an extraordinary event (KLB). The reason is that the Jombang Regency Government is still waiting for the KLB determination from the Ministry of Health.
Remembering that this dengue fever incident does not only occur in Jombang, but throughout Indonesia, including in neighboring districts and cities. The death toll reached 11 people.
“(We) are waiting for the ministry (of health) to determine the status of the KLB or not,” said Acting Regent of Jombang, Sugiat, Saturday 2 March 2024.
Even though Jombang’s status is not yet an outbreak, Sugiat mentioned preventive measures and efforts to deal with dengue fever in Jombang, such as the outbreak conditions.
“But I have ordered it to be handled, even though it is not yet in KLB status, the handling, the procedures, are like an KLB. Because this (DHF) must be dealt with immediately,” he said.
He further said that the trend of dengue fever cases in Jombang Regency as of today has decreased.
