Ciamis –
Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in Ciamis Regency, West Java, are increasing. The Regent of Ciamis Herdiat Sunarya asked the public to increase their vigilance so that extraordinary incidents (KLB) of dengue fever do not occur.
Based on data from the Ciamis District Health Service, the recorded number of residents affected by dengue fever as of January 30 2024 was 52 cases. Meanwhile, in January 2023, the number of residents affected by dengue fever was only 20 cases.
The areas with the most dengue cases were in the Handapherang Community Health Center working area with 9 cases, then Ciamis Community Health Center with 8 cases and Cijeungjing with 6 cases. Meanwhile, Cikoneng, Sindangkasih and Imbinagara each had 4 cases.
The age group most affected by dengue fever was 15-44 years old with 22 cases, and 5-14 year olds with 16 cases. However, there are babies less than 1 year old who are already affected by dengue fever. Of the 52 cases, none died. All have received treatment.
“This transition season has the potential to increase the development of dengue mosquitoes, thereby causing an increase in dengue cases in Ciamis,” said Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya, Monday (12/2/2024).
Herdiat also asked all stakeholders and the public to be alert in anticipating cases of extraordinary dengue fever. Carry out prevention and control and strengthen the implementation of the 1 house 1 Jumantik (G1R1J) movement.
“Involving all family members in the role of jumantik observers in each house,” said Herdiat.
The residents of Tatar Galuh Ciamis were also asked to increase their movement to eradicate PSN 3M plus mosquito nests. Drain, cover and recycle. Avoid mosquito bites in work environments, schools, offices and public places.
“Install mosquito screens on the house ventilation. Use anti-mosquito liquid smeared or sprayed. Eradicate larvae by using larvicide in puddles of water and planting mosquito repellent plants,” emphasized Herdiat.
