Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, assesses that the increase in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever in recent times has not reached its maximum point.
He predicts that the increase in dengue cases will continue until the transition season.
“Our monitoring results continue to increase. But, it hasn’t reached the maximum point yet. “It seems that the potential increase will still occur, perhaps until the next transition season,” said Director General Maxi in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/4).
Director General Maxi said, as of Tuesday (26/3) or the 13th week, dengue cases in Indonesia were reported to have reached 53,131 people. Meanwhile, 404 deaths due to dengue were reported.
From the disease monitoring system, Bandung City recorded a total of 1,741 dengue cases, followed by Kendari City with 1,195 cases, West Bandung with 1,143 cases, Bogor City with 939 cases, and Subang with 909 cases.
For the distribution of deaths due to dengue, Jepara recorded 17 deaths, followed by Subang with 15 deaths, Bandung Regency with 14 deaths, Kendal with 13 deaths and Bogor with 12 deaths.
Director General Maxi said that although dengue cases had increased, the hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR) was still at a safe threshold.
“In current conditions, BOR is still safe. “There are still empty beds, ICU rooms are still available,” he said.
With the recent increase in dengue cases, Director General Maxi asked the public not to panic too much. According to him, the most important thing is to keep oneself and the environment clean. “Let’s try to get dengue cases down and under control immediately,” he added.
In detail, Director General Maxi appealed to the public to carry out 3M Plus Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) activities periodically and thoroughly, especially during the rainy season like now.
“From now on, check the cleanliness of your home and the surrounding environment, don’t let there be items that have the potential to cause stagnant water, if you leave them, they can become a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes. If you find them, you should immediately drain them, dry them or cover them, even if they need to be recycled. ” he said.
