Liputan6.com, Banyuwangi – Banyuwangi Health Service, East Java, recorded cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in their area from January to July 2023 reaching 220 cases. Of these, four died.
Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Health Service Amir Hidayat said the distribution of people infected with dengue fever was evenly distributed in all sub-districts in Banyuwangi. However, the highest is in the city of Banyuwangi.
“For this reason, we ask the public to be more vigilant about the transmission of diseases caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito,” said Amir, Tuesday (25/7/2023).
Because Amir said, looking in the mirror in 2022, the number of dengue cases in Banyuwangi was quite extreme. The figure reached 560 cases with 12 deaths. So according to Amir, the number of dengue cases in 2023 until the end of the year is likely to increase, if people are ignorant of the dengue disease.
“The weather factor influences it, but in fact, this case mostly occurs in urban areas, so Banyuwangi is the highest, this shows that there is indeed something that needs to be seriously addressed by community behavior to carry out 3M, so drain, close and clean water reservoirs,” added Amir.
The current erratic weather cycle increases the chances of the Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding. Like now during the dry season it turns out there is still rain.
“This condition makes the Aedes aegypti mosquito breed very rapidly, due to the unpredictable weather,” he explained.
