Dr Do Duy Quong, director of the Center for Tropical Diseases at Bak Mai Hospital, said there will be a major dengue outbreak in the north every five years and a dengue outbreak is expected this year.

At Bakmai Hospital Tropical Disease Center, an average of 10 to 20 patients need to be hospitalized a day with warning signs. All patients showed significant decreases in platelet or blood levels, shock and multi-organ dysfunction, and many patients had platelets below 5 G / L. Additionally, many patients with underlying diseases such as liver, kidney, heart disease, elderly or pregnant women, and children need to be carefully monitored for treatment.
