Dengue Fever Outbreak in Qena: Patients from Qusayr and Safaga Admitted to Fever Hospital

Today, Saturday, an official source in the Qena Health Directorate revealed that Qena Fever Hospital received a number of patients infected with dengue fever, coming from the cities of Qusayr and Safaga in the Red Sea Governorate.

The source explained, in a special statement to Cairo 24, that all the cases received by the hospital are stable, suffering from fever and broken bones only, indicating that most of them are allowed to leave the hospital after signing a medical examination and prescribing treatment, which is often paracetamol and drinking plenty of fluids to prevent this from happening. The source added that dengue fever is a viral disease that is transmitted by the bite of a specific type of mosquito called Aedes, and it always breeds around any stagnant and shallow water, indicating that the symptoms of infection appear two days to a week after exposure to the mosquito bite.

He pointed out that the symptoms of infection for children are a high temperature of up to 40 degrees Celsius, and it can reach heat cramps, a rash in the body except for the palms and feet, and a headache.
