Dengue Fever Outbreak in Central Lombok: Residents Suspected of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

central Lombok – A total of 20 residents of Jambik Hamlet, Tanak Awu Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are suspected of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD).

Mujahidin (38), a resident of Jambik Hamlet, said that the dengue fever cases in his hamlet had targeted children. According to him, the dengue case has not been handled by the local government, even though all the patients have been examined at the nearest hospital and health center.

“Until now there has been no countermeasures from the local government. Either fogging or giving routine abates,” said Mujahidin to detikBaliMonday afternoon (27/11/2023).

Mujahidin said that currently five residents are still positive for dengue fever. They were treated at Mandalika Hospital, Pujut District, Central Lombok. Of the five patients, one of them is a child.

“Yes, that’s right, one child and four adults. This has been confirmed as dengue fever,” he said.

Head of the Sengkol Community Health Center UPT, Yuyut Yat Mei Hong, confirmed that many residents were exposed to dengue fever. According to Yuyut, several residents who tested positive for dengue have received treatment at the Sengkol Community Health Center.

“Since last week, many patients from Jambik Hamlet have come with complaints of fever. Some of the check results were confirmed as dengue fever. Some were treated at the community health center and some were referred,” said Yuyut.

He could not provide exact data on the number of patients from Jambik Hamlet who were treated and tested positive for dengue fever at the community health center.

“For exact data on the amount, I have to check with my staff first. Because I’m on leave,” he said.

Meanwhile, UPT surveillance at the Sengkol Lalu Mashuri Community Health Center said that data on suspected dengue fever patients who had been served at the community health center was 10 people. Nine of them are from Jambik Hamlet.

“It is true that we examined nine patients with addresses in Jambik in the laboratory and one from Teruwai,” said Mashuri.

Since November, the Sengkol Community Health Center has served 10 people with suspected dengue fever. Of the 10 people served, four of them tested positive for dengue according to laboratory results.

“It is true that three from Jambik tested positive for dengue fever and one from Teruwai,” he said.

To reduce dengue fever cases, community health centers have visited hamlets where sufferers are located by carrying out movements to eradicate mosquito nests, especially with 3 M.

“We have distributed abate powder (larvicide) to the local community to kill mosquito larvae. This week we plan to do fogging. Waiting for the schedule from the district health service,” concluded Mashuri.
