BANJARBARU – The Extraordinary Event Alert (KLB) warning for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) issued by the Mayor of Banjarbaru, Aditya Mufti Ariffin a week ago, deserves the attention of all parties.
In 2024, as of January 24 alone, the Banjarbaru Health Service (Dinkes) recorded that 125 cases of dengue fever had been discovered. Ironically, the sufferers are predominantly children.
A week later, it turned out there were an additional 23 cases. So as of February 5 2024, the number of dengue fever cases in the City of Dreams has reached 148 cases.
Head of the Banjarbaru Health Office, Dr. Juhai Triyanti, explained that this addition came from the discovery of cases of disease transmitted through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which was spread across 10 sub-districts. “The most dominant one occurred in Mentaos Village, North Banjarbaru District,” said Juhai, Wednesday (7/2) afternoon.

Sure enough, based on incoming data, within a week the Health Office recorded 5 additional cases in Mentaos Village. Then followed by Guntung Manggis Village with 4 additional cases. Meanwhile, other sub-districts only increased by 1 to 2 cases.
This figure certainly causes the incidence or incidence rate (IR) for dengue fever cases in Banjarbaru to increase. “Now the DHF IR has reached 8.4 per 100,000 population,” he said.
That’s why Juhai asked that all parties pay attention to this condition and return to carrying out Gertak Bapuputik (Simultaneous Movement to Sweep and Exterminate Larvae). Because according to him the spread of dengue fever will not be controlled if there are still places for mosquitoes to nest. “We must aggressively eradicate larvae, because fogging only kills adult mosquitoes, while the larvae continue to grow,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, information on the high increase in dengue fever cases in Mentaos Village, North Banjarbaru District was immediately followed up. Thursday (8/2) morning, local residents together with subdistrict officials and the Community Health Center worked together to clean the surrounding environment.

“Indeed, we found several places where mosquitoes spread around residents’ houses. We cleaned them earlier and then threw them in the trash,” said Head of Mentaos Village, Ciptadi.
So that residents in his area can be free from dengue fever, Ciptadi admitted that he would routinely carry out Gertak Bapuputik every week. “Hopefully this activity can have a positive impact, to reduce the number of dengue fever victims in Mentaos Village,” he hoped.
