“Dengue Fever Cases Surge in North Banjarmasin, Increase of More than 100%” – Banjarmasin City Government Takes Preventive Action

Most cases of dengue fever were detected in North Banjarmasin

Banjarmasin (ANTARA) –

The Banjarmasin City Government, South Kalimantan is increasing vigilance because cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) have increased by more than 100 percent or to 17 cases.

Head of the Banjarmasin City Health Service, Tabiun Huda in Banjarmasin, Sunday, said that his party was increasing vigilance because the number of dengue fever sufferers had increased from eight cases in January 2024 to now 17 cases.

“Most cases of dengue fever were detected in North Banjarmasin,” he said.

“In order to avoid an increase in cases and avoid Extraordinary Events (KLB), his party immediately took preventative action by eradicating mosquito nests which had been carried out in accordance with the mayor’s circular,” said Tabiun.

This was done to stop the spread of disease originating from the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

“With 3 M plus, namely burying, draining and closing the can. And using mosquito nets or anti-mosquitoes so you don’t get bitten by mosquitoes,” he said.

He appealed to the public to always maintain a clean environment. If a family member has a high fever, such as dengue fever, immediately take them to the hospital.

“Don’t be late,” he said.

DHF cases at the South Kalimantan Province level in January 2024 are quite high, the figure is over 1,000 people infected with the Aedes aegypti mosquito virus, 20 of whom have even died.

The highest cases of dengue fever in South Kalimantan occurred in Banjar Regency with 222 cases, then Hulu Sungai Tengah with 155 cases and Tanah Laut Regency with 148 cases.
