VIVA – The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) admits that the number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in the area has increased by 100% compared to February this year, as reported by Antara.
“Based on the data, there were 149 cases of dengue fever throughout February,” said Head of the South Jakarta Health Sub-Department (Sudinkes Jaksel) Yudi Dimyati in Jakarta, Saturday.
Yudi said that dengue fever cases in the South Jakarta region reached 81 in January 2024. This is very inversely proportional to dengue fever cases in February.
Based on existing information from previous cases, he stated that no patient had died and all patients were being treated well in hospital.
Yudi added that people who suffer from dengue fever usually have a high fever, so they are advised to drink lots of water before being taken to the hospital or other health center.
“Apart from reducing the heat with compresses and fever-reducing medication, eat more nutritious food,” he said.
Previously, Ani Ruspitawati, Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, stated that 627 cases had been recorded as of February 19 2024, with a DKI Jakarta ratio index of 5.57 per 100,000 population.
As shown by the 2024 weekly case data trends, cases have increased compared to the early weeks of January.
Case data shows a sharp increase since the 5th week in early February when it entered its ninth week.
“We urge residents to be alert and implement the eradication of mosquito nests with 3M plus, namely draining, covering, recycling plus other activities that prevent the breeding and bites of the Aedes aegypti mosquito,” said Ani.
Officers carry out fumigation to eradicate dengue fever mosquitoes.
Ani explained that dengue fever cases were spread throughout the DKI Jakarta area, namely Central Jakarta with 34 cases, North Jakarta with 74 cases, West Jakarta with 208 cases, South Jakarta with 145 cases, East Jakarta with 161 cases and the Seribu Islands with five cases.
“We continue to monitor developments in dengue cases in every area of Jakarta. So far, no deaths have been recorded,” explained Ani.
