Dengue Fever Cases in Sangihe Increase to 17 People

SANGIHE, iNews.id – Case dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in the Sangihe Islands Regency increased to 17 cases from the previous three cases. The public is reminded to improve cleanliness environment.

“The case of dengue fever continues to increase from three cases in early January to 17 people by the end of January 2022,” said Head of the Sangihe Islands District Health Office Lily Rezkiah in Sangihe, Monday (31/1/2022).

Responding to the increasing number of dengue cases, the local government through the Sangihe Islands District Health Office moved quickly to take steps to prevent dengue outbreaks by coordinating with sub-district officials.

“Coordination with sub-districts, villages and villages is taken solely to mobilize the role of the community in controlling environmental cleanliness in each region,” he said.

He explained that the increase in the number of dengue cases at the beginning of 2022 could not be separated from the problem of environmental hygiene which provided space for mosquitoes carrying dengue disease to breed, especially in the last few months the rainfall in Sangihe had increased quite a bit.

“DHF outbreaks began to increase in the middle of the rainy season, this was caused by the increasing number of breeding places for mosquitoes due to increased rainfall. It is not surprising that almost every year, dengue outbreaks are classified as extraordinary events (KLB),” he said.
