SAMPIT-Head of Commission III DPRD Kotawaringin Timur Regency (Kotim) Hj Mariani appealed to the people in this area to increase their awareness of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This is because in the last few days, the City of Sampit has continued to receive high-intensity rains, so people must be aware of the impact of the rainy season which often causes DHF to appear.
“In order to be free from the transmission and spread of DHF, it is necessary to have prevention efforts in various ways, keeping the environment clean both at home and in residents’ residential complexes is very important, to prevent the emergence of dengue outbreaks which can endanger public health,” said Mariani, Tuesday (20/3).
According to information from January to February 2023, the Kotim District Health Office has recorded seven dengue cases that have been handled. So to prevent dengue, he believes the district government through related agencies already has a program.
“During January there were four cases of DHF and in February there were three cases. We are sure that the district government through the health office already has a program to prevent dengue,” said Mariani. The Golkar Party politician also said that public awareness is also very important to prevent the spread of dengue fever. One effort that can be done by the community is to ensure that there are no standing water in the environment around the house due to falling rain, and to cultivate a mutual cooperation attitude to clean the environment. .

He also added that every resident can take preventive measures by carrying out 3M, namely draining the bathtub, closing water containers or reservoirs, and burying used items in their neighborhood.
