Dengue, a lurking enemy of the children of America during the pandemic | Society | America Edition

The covid-19 pandemic, which already leaves more than 2 million deaths throughout the Americas, has had another silent effect that especially affects children and adolescents on the continent: greater exposure to dengue.

On World Dengue Day, this is recognized by Iván Darío Vélez, doctor and principal investigator of the World Mosquito Program, who explains to Efe that the aedes aegypti —the mosquito that transmits this disease— is “an eminently indoor vector, lives within the house, hides and reproduces there ”.
