The men of Den Bosch have also won their fifth match of the season. On the first weekend day of the fifth round in the Tulp Hoofdklasse, coach Nanco Jansonius’ team was too strong for HDM 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. Timo Boers scored three of the five goals from Den Bosch at the Oosterplas.
Boers single-handedly gave Den Bosch a 2-0 lead before halftime by converting two penalty corners. A few minutes after the break, the defender scored again for his third of the afternoon. Almost exactly a year ago – on October 7, 2023 – Boers scored his first hat trick in the big league, in a 5-0 win over Schaerweijde. Also three times from a penalty corner.
Only when Spaniard Marc Vizcaino made it 4-0 for Den Bosch from the rebound of a penalty corner – his first goal in Den Bosch’s service – HDM was able to give something back. Chris Taberima first used a penalty ball and then scored from a penalty corner: 4-1 and 4-2.
Four in a row for Brinkman
The final piece belonged to Thierry Brinkman, who made it 5-2 four minutes before the end after brilliant preparatory work by Thomas Sorsby, who crossed half the field with the ball. It was the fourth round in a row that Brinkman was effective for his new club. This also applies to Timo Boers.
The five victories in the first five rounds means the best start to the competition for Den Bosch since the 1996-1997 season. Then the people from Brabant even won their first seven matches. HDM is in tougher weather: the team from The Hague remained without a win in ten of its last twelve competition matches.
