Tasos Dimoshakis‘ attempt to beautify the situation in Evros a year after the fire that caused the death of 19 migrants, leaving behind about 962,000 burned acres of land, made it the largest recorded fire in the EU since 2000.
“Yesterday’s highly symbolic journey of the three deputy ministers to Evros, following the recent historic visit of Mr. Mitsotakis to our prefecture, accompanied by almost his entire government staff, in the context of which measures were announced and are being implemented immediately to organize the Akriti region” he said from the floor of the Parliament in relation to the visit of Thanasis Kontogeorgis, Christos Triandopoulos and Christodoulos Topsides to Evros in the context of the Reconstruction and Development Plan of the specific prefecture.
Afterwards, the member of parliament from Evros with the ND seems to have lost his temper, as he added that these initiatives turn “last summer’s accident of the fiery riot into luck. Accident to success, sending a message that is resounding and hopeful.”
And he concluded by saying: “Consequently, with a spirit of team and unity, we will take advantage of the great opportunity to make Evros a model prefecture, as it deserves. Because it is a pillar of the Greek state and I believe that all Greeks want the prefecture to be strong”.
