Demonstrations – Freiburg im Breisgau – Tens of thousands at climate protests in the southwest – Politics

Stuttgart / Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Two days before the federal election, tens of thousands of young climate protectors took to the streets in Baden-Württemberg at the Fridays for Future demonstrations. A police spokesman said on Friday that there were an estimated more than 10,000 participants in the protests in Freiburg. However, there could be a lot more in the course of the afternoon. According to the police, several thousand also moved through the city center in Stuttgart. The organizers spoke of 15,000 participants.

In total, the climate movement has planned more than 80 actions in Baden-Württemberg. Fridays for Future calls for measures to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. In Stuttgart there were posters with the inscription: “Act now – we have no more time.” to see. The Greens, the Left, the Catholic and Protestant Churches and the GEW teachers’ union called for participation in the climate protests.
