About a month before the mid-term congressional elections in the United States, thousands of people protested for the right to abortion in several cities on Saturday. “Let’s not go back,” shouted the crowd, mostly women, in the capital, Washington. On the posters, demonstrators also called for a “feminist tsunami” and asked people to vote to protect women’s rights. The US Supreme Court caused a political earthquake in June when it overturned the country’s fundamental right to abortion, which had been enshrined for nearly 50 years.
