The National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA) has installed demonstration plots with rice seeds of the INIA 508 Tinajones variety of high genetic quality in the agricultural fields of the Chongoyape district, Chiclayo province, Lambayeque region.
INIA 508 Tinajones is a variety of milling rice developed by INIA with high genetic value. It offers an average yield of 15 quintals per hectare, has a good milling quality, its grain is long, thin and translucent, as well as being tolerant to the main parasites.
The installation of this agricultural infrastructure will allow INIA to increase the transfer of agronomic management packages, the generation and adoption of agricultural technology capable of increasing the productive yield of hectares, as well as obtaining competitive crops for different markets.
To this end, the specialists of the Vista Florida Agrarian Experimental Station, under the Prosem project, were trained in techniques of production of high-value seeds, conservation of agricultural soil, adequate planting density, timely and balanced fertilization, control of parasites, among others.
