In Roosendaal, a large fire rages on the Industriestraat in a number of demolished homes. The fire broke out at 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning for unknown reasons. It was soon reported that it was a major fire. People and businesses in the area may be affected by the smoke. Due to the strong smoke development, it is advised to close windows and doors and switch off the ventilation.
The fire quickly spread through the roof to three adjacent homes. The fire brigade tries to prevent a fourth house from being hit.
According to the Central and West Brabant security region the houses were most likely not inhabited. There is currently no indication that anyone was present when the fire started. “But we are handling it as carefully as possible,” a spokesperson said. It is likely to be demolished houses.
There is some space between the housing block and other surrounding homes, which is favorable according to the spokesperson: “That makes transshipment more difficult.” According to the spokeswoman, the firefighters are also concerned with their own safety, since the demolished houses are more likely to collapse than normal houses.
