Gibran, a man from Karawang, was arrested by police in Medina, Saudi Arabia, for raising the flag Democrats. Responding to this, the Democratic Party’s DPP Bappilu Deputy, Kamhar Lakumani, said that places of worship must be used according to their function.
“Each country has its own regulations regarding flags which are state symbols. Therefore responding to people who carry flags in places of worship, especially at the Prophet’s Mosque, for soldiers will be very sensitive,” Kamhar said when contacted, Wednesday (8/2/ 2023).
Kamhar said raising the flag at a place of worship would certainly cause misunderstandings. He said that houses of worship must be kept pure.
“Apart from maintaining the sanctity of places of worship which are only for activities and activities which are forms of worship, this flag-raising is very likely to cause misunderstandings,” he said.
“We are grateful if Gibran is able to go home and the matter has been resolved. Indeed, when performing the Umrah pilgrimage, we should only focus on worship activities. The way to be grateful and express happiness is also by worship,” he continued.

The news of Gibran’s arrest was confirmed by member of the Democratic Party faction of the Karawang DPRD, Abas Hadi Mulyana. Gibran himself is the son of the Chairman of the Karawang Regency DPRD Budianto.
At that time, several members of the Democratic Party Branch Executive Board (DPC) and members of the Democratic Faction of the Karawang Regency DPRD were known to be performing Umrah in congregation.
Apart from cadres Democratsthose who participate in the group are family members, such as children and wives of members of the faction.
“It’s true, Gibran was arrested by the Medina police yesterday. At that time he took a photo of raising the Democratic Party flag in front of the Prophet’s Mosque around Sunday,” said Abas when contacted. detikjabarWednesday (8/2).
Abas explained, Gibran unfurled the Democratic Party flag as an expression of gratitude for the success of his parents. Because, his father is now the Chairman of the Karawang DPRD representing the Democratic Party faction.
“At first I also wanted to take a photo using the flag of our proud party, but Gibran preceded me. I don’t think why I was arrested,” he said.
