Deputy Secretary General of the DPP Democratic party Irwan considered that the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Emergency is a failed policy.
According to him, the government’s efforts proved in vain because it did not provide life insurance for the people affected by the policy.
“For me, it’s not optimal anymore but failed,” said Irwan in a written statement, Sunday (18/7).
He proposed that President Joko Widodo immediately intervene to deal with the current Covid-19 and not delegate the directive to one minister or another.
He considered that Jokowi needed to hold a meeting with the previous President or Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to get wider and clearer input.
“This is our war together. I am sure that there will be strategic recommendations and priorities for this nation to overcome COVID-19 and restore the national economy after the meeting,” he said again.
In addition, he said, his party suggested that the government should focus on increasing vaccination acceleration and strengthening health services during this pandemic.
According to him, the government’s efforts in conducting Emergency PPKM have been in vain. Moreover, often the way of communication carried out by government circles is not acceptable to the public.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy previously reported that the Emergency PPKM would be extended until the end of July.
Muhadjir explained that the extension of the Emergency PPKM to suppress the transmission of the corona virus (Covid-19) had been decided by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a Limited Cabinet Meeting (Ratas).
