Democrats Apologize After Student Headquarters Raided

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Head of the DPP Strategic Communication Agency Democratic party Herzaky Mahendra Putra admitted to accepting gracefully the disapproval of a number of parties who claimed to be college student related to the support oration previously given to the party bearing the mercy symbol.

The students felt that their names were taken down until they finally ‘raided’ the Democratic DPP, Monday (15/3) night. Herzaky said that his party had tried to invite them to the DPP Democrat Party’s office to have a dialogue regarding the profiteering.

“That there are parties who disagree with our steps, such as the one holding the demonstration tonight, we accept it as part of dialectics in democracy,” Herzaky said in a written statement, Tuesday (16/3).

Herzaky said that his party would do even better so that events that caused chaos like last night did not recur. Moreover, he said, this was due to the disapproval of a number of people who claimed to be students regarding the party’s support for the previous Democratic Party.

Furthermore, said Herzaky, the Democratic Party will carry out more stringent identity checks on anyone who comes to the DPP office to convey their aspirations.

“We will do better to prevent something like this from recurring, by checking the identities of elements of society who come to us in more detail, while still upholding good prejudice and freedom of expression,” he said.

“For the dynamics generated by dozens of students in front of the DPP PD office at night, we have tried to invite them inside. In accordance with our attitude that is open to various groups who come to express their opinions,” he continued.

On that occasion, Herzaky explained that his party had indeed opened a room for expression in the DPP of the Democrat Party for anyone who wanted to give support to the party which had now been plagued by this polemic.

The expression room is in the form of a Democracy Platform in the Proklamasi Park, which is inside the DPP office complex. Whoever he said, those who came were treated the same. Including dozens of students who previously claimed to be from certain organizations and wanted to provide support.

“We apologize if it turns out that there are among them, only recently it is discovered that they are students and hold certain positions, but not representatives of student institutions on campus,” said Herzaky.
