Kinshasa (ANTARA) – The authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Friday (12/11) officially announced a measles outbreak in eastern Maniema province.
The outbreak was confirmed by sample analysis from the DRC National Biomedical Research Institute, according to Maniema Affani governor Idrissa Mangala.
He added that the province concerned had reported 458 cases, including 17 deaths.
The governor asked the public to remain vigilant and consult the nearest health center if they have fever, skin rash, conjunctivitis, cough and runny nose or sneezing.
In the DRC capital Kinshasa four health zones have also been hit by measles outbreaks since late August.
