Following the approval of the arrest motion on the 22nd, the Democratic Party of Korea decided to deliver a ‘petition to dismiss’ to the court for Representative Lee Jae-myeong, who is about to be interrogated by the court (substantive warrant review) before being detained.

According to the Democratic Party on this day, Secretary General Cho Jung-sik, who expressed his resignation the previous day (the 21st), addressed 168 Democratic Party members, 17 city and provincial party chairmen across the country, and regional chairpersons, asking for a petition to dismiss the prosecution’s unfair arrest warrant request for the party leader. An official document titled ‘was sent. Representative Lee’s arrest motion was passed, and the court’s interrogation of the suspect (substantive warrant review) before arrest was announced on the 26th.

Secretary-General Cho explained, “We are awaiting a substantive review of the warrant regarding the unfair arrest warrant request for Representative Lee,” and added, “Our party is requesting the submission of a petition to convey to the court our intention to reject the unfair arrest warrant request.” The method of petition is to write ‘○○ regional chairperson and all ○○ people’ and then join the list of petitioners. The petition states, “If the representative of the main opposition party is arrested, serious problems will arise in the administration of state affairs and the overall national system,” and “We earnestly appeal to you to make a wise decision so that this representative can be tried without detention.” This was written down.

The Democratic Party requested that the petition be submitted by email to the party organization bureau by 10 a.m. on the 25th. The purpose is to list the real names of the lawmakers who submitted the petition and send it to the Seoul Central District Court before the substantive review of Representative Lee’s warrant.

Accordingly, some in the party are pointing out that following the party leadership’s decision to define the passing of the motion for Representative Lee’s arrest as a ‘relevant act’, the party has begun to hunt down the votes. In a phone call with the Seoul Shinmun, a member of the Bimyeong (non-Lee Jae-myeong) faction pointed out that it was a “pathetic idea,” saying, “Isn’t the intention to stigmatize those who didn’t submit it as having voted for it?”

Previously, Secretary General Cho expressed his resignation the day before, but Representative Lee ordered him to work normally until a decision was made on whether to accept the resignation.
