Democratic Party lawmakers Jang Gyeong-tae and Woo Sang-ho were sent to the prosecution last week on charges of defamation.
An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said that Rep. Jang and Rep. Woo, who were accused of defamation of first lady Kim Gun-hee, were summoned and sent to the Central District Prosecutor’s Office last week.
Previously, Rep. Chang was accused of using lighting to take pictures when Mrs. Kim Kun-hee visited the home of a child with heart disease during a trip to Southeast Asia last November.
Rep. Woo said that when Mrs. Kim visited the foreign minister’s official residence in May of last year, “Mrs. Kim requested that she leave for a while because she had to look inside the mission, so the wife of former Foreign Minister Eui-yong Eui-yong was outside in the garden.”
A police official said, “As a result of a comprehensive review through the statements of many related persons, there were no lights installed for taking pictures during the Southeast Asian tour.”
In addition, ″At the time of Mrs. Kim’s visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs was notified of the prior visit plan by Mrs. Kim and was out of the country.
