President Donald Trump’s Impeachment Prosecution Committee, made up of nine Democratic House congressmen, says it is collecting data to be presented in the Senate impeachment trial.
The House of Representatives previously adopted a bill to impeach President Trump on the 13th, and the Senate is expected to begin an impeachment trial next week shortly after taking office as President-elect Joe Biden.
Democratic Party member Diana Diget, a member of the impeachment prosecution, said yesterday (14th) that the video will be released at the Senate impeachment trial on CNN.
Rep. Diget said the video contained supporters breaking into the Capitol shortly after President Trump said “Fight.”
Degget, a former lawyer, also said several witnesses will be present at the trial for impeachment.
In the presidential impeachment trial, the House of Representatives acts as a prosecutor, the Supreme Court acts as a judge, and the senators act as jury members. The key issue is whether President Trump’s charges of “inciting civil war” will be admitted.
Currently, the Senate is an equal number of 50 Republicans and Democrats out of 100 lawmakers, and at least 17 Republicans withdrawal votes for the impeachment bill can be passed.
