Democratic party (PD) do not agree with the term calling the announcement cawapres for Anies Baswedan will shock the public. You see, the names of potential vice presidential candidates have been known to the public for a long time.
“We don’t really agree with the word surprise. What kind of surprise do you want? Is there a candidate for vice president from abroad that we will never know later?” said Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Janesn Sitindaon, in a discussion between detik.com’s Perspective Adu and Total Politik, Wednesday (14/6/2023).
He explained that the names of potential vice presidential candidates had been circulating in the news about political surveys since two years ago. So, the name of vice presidential candidate Anies will also not be far from the names that were previously circulated.
“Because after all, there are only 10 names left, how come two years ago, this has not gone anywhere,” said Jansen.
Democrats hope Anies will announce his running mate soon. The problem is, the sooner it is announced, the faster socialization for presidential and vice presidential candidates can be carried out by the Democrats, NasDem, and PKS, through their cadres. The electability of Anies and his cawapres can also be raised.
“If we had known the name of the cawapres long ago, the three parties could immediately consolidate,” he said.
The term ‘surprise’ or ‘element of surprise’ from the announcement of Anies’ vice presidential candidate was once put forward by the Head of the NasDem Party DPP, Willy Aditya, last year.
“I also said that just now, of course politics is always full of elements of surprise, of course the position of cawapres will also be an element of surprise too,” said Willy at the Morissey Hotel, Central Jakarta, November 6, 2022.
