On Wednesday September 7, in Manhattan (New York), Democratic Mayor Eric Adams declared about migrants: “Never in my life have I been faced with a problem that I didn’t see an end to. I don’t see an end to this one. This crisis will destroy New York City.”

Some 110,000 migrants have arrived in New York since he took office almost two years ago. Some are sent by Republican governors in the southern United States, such as Texas and Florida.

The New York city councilor, former police officer, criticizes Joe Biden and the Democratic governor of New York State for their inability to help the largest city in the country. According to Eric Adams, the megacity’s budget deficit could reach $12 billion over three years because of this migration crisis.

A little over a year before the presidential election, the Republicans are applauding: “Mayor Eric Adams is right. New York City deserves better”, writes Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy. Donald Trump’s former vice-president, Mike Pence, candidate for the White House, takes his hat off to him.
