Democratic Bulgaria Co-chairman Alleges Political Scandal Involving Incriminating Materials: What is the Coral Scandal?

“Yesterday morning I watched all the news, it all started with the Coral scandal. What is the scandal? Whether there are signatures, someone has to verify it. But this is lawyer confidential and cannot be released publicly.”

This was said by Atanas Atanasov, co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” in the program “Face to Face” on bTV.

According to him, Kiril Petkov just wanted to leave a non-governmental organization.

“There is no money, no corruption, no dividends here. It is a different matter that the law needs a different form,” he said.

Atanasov said that there is currently a scandal related to kompromat between the political forces.

“Years from now, these cases will be closed in some way, but they are processing public opinion now. This is a political struggle with illegal means, with the aim of discrediting the opponent,” he said.

“We worked wisely. Last year, after a political crisis, we formed a government and that after difficult negotiations with GERB. I don’t know what Alexei Petrov’s role is, I never had a good relationship with him. If someone somewhere has done something that helped create a government, I don’t know about it,” said Atanas Atanasov.

According to him, the director of GERB Boyko Borisov likes to throw such things because “it is so convenient”, but he admitted that it is possible that there was some kind of meeting.

In connection with the “Customs” scandal and the DANS report, Atanasov explained that, according to him, this development was made to look for the connections of Stefan and Marin Dimitrovi with Vasil Bozhkov.

“But where is the evidence of smuggling? That was the first bullet, now with “Coral” it’s the second one. We are waiting for the next one,” said the DB co-chairman.

“There is a special factory for incriminating materials that is currently operating between the prosecutor’s office and DANS,” said the deputy.

Atanasov called on the Bulgarians not to give up and vote in the elections on June 9.
