U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Michigan Democrat, accused President Biden of supporting Palestinian “genocide” amid fighting between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Claiming that the American people will remember his actions during the 2024 presidential election.
The Washington Post and the New York Times reported on the 3rd that Tlaib, who is the only Palestinian American in the House of Representatives, posted a video on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Mr. President, the majority of the American people I’m not with you on this,” seemingly putting pressure on Biden to support a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The video Tlaib uploaded began with a clip of Biden’s speech stating that the United States stands with Israel, and then edited the Israeli air strikes on Gaza, bleeding children in medical tents, bodies lying in the rubble, and calls for a ceasefire across the United States. During the demonstrations, Tlaib himself threatened at the end of the video that “in 2024, we will remember”
The video finally switched to white text on a black background, with the words “Biden supports the genocide of the Palestinian people and the American people will not forget it” written in capital letters, and warned Biden to “support a ceasefire now, otherwise don’t count on us in 2024.”
One segment of the video focuses on a demonstration in Michigan, where participants chanted “from river to sea.” The slogan is also used by Hamas, and many Jews view the phrase as a call for the annihilation of Israel. Tlaib later responded to “X” and wrote that “From River to Sea” is “a cry for the ideals of freedom, human rights and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction or hatred,” adding that “my work and advocacy have always been Focused on justice and dignity for all people, regardless of creed or race”.

The White House declined to comment, and Tlaib’s office and the Biden campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
