In the city of Salzburg, no demonstration was registered for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day until Thursday morning, said a Salzburg police spokeswoman on request. Because of the registration deadline of 48 hours before the start of the event, a regular rally is no longer possible on the last day of this year.
“Sunday walks” requested for a long time
However, the “Sunday stroll” on January 2nd in the center of Salzburg, which has now become the norm, had already been officially applied for. The organizers have long registered these demonstrations for all Sundays.
Demos also on Stefanitag
Also last Sunday, on Stefanitag, a few hundred Salzburgers took to the streets against the CoV measures. Before Christmas, all Salzburg parties – including the FPÖ – had called for public rallies to be dispensed with around the holidays in the interests of Christmas peace.
