Ukrainian experts have removed thousands of explosive devices, including 2,000 air bombs, but an area of about 300,000 square kilometers remains to be mined, Horungy said.
“Up to 10 years is an optimistic figure, because we do not know what is happening in the areas where there is currently an active battle,” said Horunji. “Imagine how many bombs the enemy has dropped on us.”
Demining infrastructure, residential areas and roads is a top priority, but clearing forests, rivers and the coast will take longer, Horungy said.
