Flat Rivermanaged this season by Martín Demichelis, will start this Tuesday in 2023 with an international friendly against Monterrey de México, with the idea of installing and developing the coach project that will try to maintain the high standard left by Marcelo Gallardo, after a successful cycle of eight years.

Demichelis will be absent two times: Chilean defender Paulo Díaz (he underwent arthroscopy in his right knee a month ago) and midfielder Agustín Palavecino (muscle pain). The former Bayern Munich defender from Germany will recover Franco Armani, world champion with Argentina in Qatar 2022, and Uruguayan Nicolás De La Cruz, although his presence from the start is not guaranteed.

The match against the Mexican team will also mark the debut of Ignacio “Nacho” Fernández since his return to the Núñez club and the return of David Martínez to central defence.
Monterrey, who have just lost against Chivas de Guadalajara in the Mexican championship, have striker Rogelio Funes Mori in their ranks, who came out of River’s youth academy, but is doubtful due to a muscle problem.
The Rayados squad also includes Argentines Germán Berterame, Maximiliano Meza and Esteban Andrada, the former Boca Juniors starter in the rematch of the 2018 Copa Libertadores final at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, with a “millionaire” victory 3-1.
