Demi Lovato has officially started directing its very first feature film as announced by Hulu Thursday (March 16).
The pop artist will collaborate with Nicola Marais co-lead “Star Child” a documentary that will “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars,” according to a press release.

“There is no better film or subject for my directorial debut than this story, which is close to home,” said the disney channel alum said in a statement. “Our project highlights important messages about growing up in the public eye, learning to protect our borders, and becoming active advocates for our own destiny. I am honored to be able to learn from people who have had the unique experience of childhood stardom and to share their stories in our film.
The documentary will also follow the fortunes of several other child stars in addition to Lovato reflecting on her childhood stardom on programs like Barney and his friends, As the bell rings, sonny with a chanceand more.
It is currently scheduled to premiere on Hulu sometime in 2024.
In addition to tapping into the world of filmmaking, she has been at the top of her game with her most recent contribution of “Still alive” au Cri VI soundtrack.
