The man who sold Demi Lovato in 2018 the drugs that nearly killed her also took advantage of her condition that night. The 28-year-old singer tells this in her documentary series Dancing With The Devil.
When she came to hospital after her overdose, doctors asked if she had volunteered sex that evening. “I remembered that he was on top of me, so I said ‘yes’,” Lovato said on the series.
“It wasn’t until a month later that I realized that at that point I was totally unable to agree to that. And he left me there for dead. That’s a trauma that you don’t get over so quickly,” she says. candid in the YouTube series, which will be released soon.
Lovato confesses in the documentary that she used heroin again after her overdose. When she came back from rehab, she felt she would lose some of her impotence if she called the dealer, whom she doesn’t name by name, again. “I wanted to overturn his choice to take advantage of me,” she explains. “I wanted it to be my choice now. He also had something I wanted: drugs.”
In retrospect, she regrets it enormously. “I thought that being in control of the situation now would make me feel better. But it only made me feel worse.”
Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil can be seen on YouTube from 23 March.
