Dementia Course for Carers: Support, Insights, and Skills | Rivas Membership Organization

– Rivas member organization is organizing the Dementia course from Wednesday, October 4, 2023, what now? in Leerdam. This course has been specially developed for carers of a person with dementia. The participants are professionally guided in a group of up to ten people. They gain new insights, knowledge and skills that help them better cope with the sometimes challenging healthcare situation. The course consists of seven meetings from 10:00 to 12:30 and takes place in the Lingesteyn Nursing Home in Leerdam.

Support and understanding

After a diagnosis of a form of dementia, there are often many questions. Not only practical questions, but also on an emotional level. In order to continue caring for a person with dementia as a caregiver, it helps to know more about dementia, its impact, how to deal with it and what support is available. This helps people with dementia to live independently in their familiar environment for longer, while maintaining their quality of life. A geriatric nurse from the Geriatric Research and Advice Center (GOAC) of Rivas Zorggroep gives participants of this course more insights, knowledge and skills. There is also room for reflection with colleagues on the topics covered.
