Dredger DEME has been awarded the contract for laying the submarine cables for the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, the largest wind farm in the world off the coast of Great Britain.

The contract was won by subsidiary DEME Offshore. It will supply, install and protect 650 kilometers of cable and all accessories. Production of the cable will start in 2021. DEME will use a special cable installation vessel, the ‘Living Stone’, for this purpose.
The Dogger Bank wind farm is located more than 130 km off the North East coast of England and is currently being developed in three 1.2 GW phases by joint venture partners SSE Renewables and Equinor. Dogger Bank will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world when completed and will generate enough energy to power more than 4.5 million homes each year – approximately 5 percent of the UK’s electricity needs.
