Barcelona achieved a decisive 1-0 victory Atletico Madrid on the 16th day Spanish league this season. Three more points make up the team Xavi Hernández comfortable at the top of the chart.
Playing at the Cívitas Metropolitano, on Monday (9/1/2023) in the morning WIB, Barcelona’s only goal was scored in the 22nd minute. The combination of Pedri and Gavi produced a mature pass which was successfully completed by Ousmane Dembele.
This result put Barcelona three points clear of Real Madrid in the table. Barcelona collected 41 points, while Real 38 points. Meanwhile, Atletico are in fifth place with 27 points.
The course of the match
Atletico Madrid gave their first threat in the 6th minute with a long-range shot from Pablo Barrios, but it was saved by Marc-André ter Stegen. Andreas Christensen responded with a similar effort in the 9th minute, but it was also cleared by Jan Oblak.
Barcelona opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. With an individual action to break through the Atletico penalty area, Pedri served Gavi, who then passed to Ousmane Dembele, free on the right.
Without hesitation, the French striker immediately kicked into the left corner of the goal which Oblak was unable to block. Barcelona leads 1-0.

Left behind by a goal, Atletico try to reply. However, Jose Gimenez’s header went wide in the 33rd minute, followed by Nahuel Molina’s right foot that suffered the same fate four minutes later.
Antoine Griezmann also attempted to score with a left-footed shot in the 42nd minute, but it was saved by Ter Stegen. The 1-0 score for the visitors lasted until the break.
In the second half, Atletico Madrid made threats again, but accuracy was once again a problem. Joao Felix’s shot from distance in the 53rd minute rebounded over the goal, as did Griezmann’s shot into the penalty area a minute later.
Barcelona is not silent. Sergio Busquets had a chance in the 63rd minute from a corner kick, but his header didn’t score. Marcos Llorente alternated threatening Barcelona two minutes later, but his shot was cleared by Ter Stegen.
Atletico have tried to increase their power in attack by including Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa, but there has been no positive impact. The targets have not yet managed to participate.
Each team had to finish the game with 10 people after Stefan Savic and Ferran Torres were involved in physical contact in added time. Barcelona successfully held on to a 1-0 win until the end of the fight.
