The case of DeMarcus Cousins is as clear as it is sad. The now 34-year-old center was destined to be one of the best in his position for a long time; however, the rupture of his Achilles tendon in 2018 put an end to his career, at least the one that was destined for the elite.
Despite numerous attempts to get back into the NBA, the reality is that no team has found his game or the trust of those same organizations, which counted on him for one year – or not even that – and then let him go again. Thus, between 2019 and 2021 Cousins played for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets.
Tired of so many meaningless moves, in the last two years he has tried what it is like to play in the leagues of Puerto Rico and Taiwan. He has enjoyed it there; in fact, with the Taiwan Beer Leopards he has been proclaimed champion and MVP. Would he like to return to the NBA? Yes, but he understands that at this point he has nothing to prove to make that happen.

“I’m not going to try to convince these guys anymore. They know what I bring to the table. It’s proven. If they really wanted to know who I am, they would take the time to get to know me instead of listening to what others say. I’m not going to try any more. If an opportunity comes up that makes sense, I’ll consider it, but I don’t want to convince anymore,” he said on the Club 520 podcast.
The latest we know about Cousins is that he will play a 3×3 championship with Wuxi WenLv, a Chinese team that will be in the FIBA World Cup. Let us remember that the center was a gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
