“Dem Pöbel zur Freude: A Monthly Reading Stage with Hamburg’s Funniest Comedians”

For the joy of the rabble

The monthly reading stage – every 3rd Thursday of the month!

In the olden days, cruel despots liked to amuse their people with gladiator fights, jugglery, public executions, and other merrymaking in order to maintain their power. And today, by the way. On behalf of the Hamburg Senate, the comedians Johannes Floehr, Piero Masztalerz, Tobias Vogel @kriegundfreitag, Ella Carina Werner and one fantastic star guest each appear every month for two hours, completely engaging their willing audience with stories, cartoons, music and other booth magic sedate.

Guest: Ninia LaGrande

From Ensemble:

Johannes Floehr can count to 1000 with his eyes closed and is the former class representative of 5a. With his texts he has brought it from Krefeld to the Elbphilharmonie, which no one before him has ever managed or attempted. The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: “The funniest thing that can currently be found on German-speaking stages!”. Not about him, but maybe that’s coming.

Piero Masztalerz is a multi-award-winning cartoonist and the comedian has created a whole new genre with his stage show: he talks to his characters on stage almost live. His cartoons are known from the Internet under the name schoenescheisse.de. In “Dem Pöbel zur Freude” he will take care of the music since he is the eldest of the group and has the best taste.

You might know @kriegundfreitag from the internet, through his books or because of his fabulous hairstyle. He also made it from Krefeld to the Elbphilharmonie, but only as a spectator. The multi (two) award-winning cartoonist likes to put himself under pressure with exaggerated announcements. In addition to virtuoso drawings, he also wants to present some excellent texts on stage.

Ella Carina Werner is the daughter of a belly dancer and a psychotherapist, and when she’s at the mic it’s a mix of both. She is a columnist and co-editor of the Frankfurt satirical magazine Titanic. Her short stories, most of which she has experienced herself, sound “like Kafka after a good joint” (Spiegel Online).
