Delyan Dobrev from GERB published a comment on the topic of gas and the caretaker government on social networks. Here’s his comment:
“Radev had a unique chance to deal with the gas crisis, and this chance was called Nikolay Pavlov. This is the long-time director of Bulgargaz, who with his team turned this company into the most stable and profitable company in the energy sector – 0 liabilities and nearly 100 million profit for 2021. That’s not all. In 2018, this team negotiated new terms with Gazprom, under which the price of gas was reduced by more than 40%. Thanks to this, the Bulgarian business had the lowest price of gas in Europe for years.
Nikolay Pavlov was acting Minister of Energy in Radev’s first cabinet. Today it is not like that due to reasons unclear to anyone and many rumors and doubts.
However, I’m willing to bet that it’s one, several, or all of the following:
1. The official cabinet will continue the fraud with the gas intermediaries. People and commission accounts will change, but the scheme will remain the same.
2. They will put Gazprom back on a white horse, thereby fatally endangering the Bulgarian position in a possible arbitration dispute and Bulgaria will be condemned to pay billions of BGN.
3. They will refuse the offer for 7 tankers from an American manufacturer.
4. They will not hold a tender for a new 10-year gas supply contract.
5. They will leave the country without gas.
6. They will torpedo the formation of the next regular government.
7. The President cannot make decisions. Bulgaria is ruled by someone else! Someone who hides deep in the shadows…
I don’t feel sorry for the President anymore…”
