Delta Variant Contagious As Easily as Smallpox, Vaccinated People Can Still Get Covid-19

Suara.com – A recent internal United States (US) government document claims that varian delta appears to cause more severe disease than the variant corona virus previously. Covid-19 the delta variant is also called spreads as easily as chickenpox.

Documents provided to officials from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reveal that the CDC should change public advice to emphasize: vaccination as the best defense against highly infectious variants.

This document cites a combination of recently obtained and unpublished data from outbreak investigations and outside studies showing that vaccinated individuals infected with the delta variant may transmit the virus as easily as those who are not vaccinated.

Vaccinated people infected with the delta variant had a viral load similar to that of those who were not vaccinated.

“I finished reading it significantly and was more concerned,” said Robert Wachter, chair of the department of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.

CDC scientists were so concerned that the agency changed its guidelines for wearing masks for vaccinated people.

Some data suggest there is a higher risk among the elderly for hospitalization and death, regardless of vaccination status.

Other evidence estimates there are 35,000 symptomatic infections per week among the 162 million Americans vaccinated.

“While it’s rare, we believe that on an individual level, people who are vaccinated can spread the virus, which is why we’re updating our recommendations,” federal health officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Post.

The document also includes CDC data showing that the vaccine is not as effective in immunocompromised patients and in the elderly. This condition increases the likelihood that those who are susceptible will need a booster dose (third dose).
