MIS-C most commonly appears four to six weeks after being infected with COVID-19. The rise in US incidence follows the outbreak of the Delta coronavirus this summer.

In the United States, there have been 46 confirmed deaths from MIS-C and 5,217 confirmed cases of MIS-C.
