“Greece is not the same country as it was ten or even five years ago,” stressed the European Commissioner for Economy and Finance, Paolo Gentiloni.
Speaking during the first day of the 9th Delphi Economic Forum, which takes place in Delphi, April 10-13, and is under the auspices of A.E. of the President of the Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, called our country “among the protagonists of the great transition – towards the green economy” and emphasized that the only solution for the global economy is to continue with the green transition.
The investment grade
The Finance Commissioner recalled that our country has returned to investment grade, adding: “I am proud to have played a role in Greece’s success by ending the era of memoranda in 2022.”
Regarding the forecast for future crises, the Finance Commissioner said that the Europeans learned the lesson of the previous crises and “we made a series of support programs”, even adding that Greece is the country that will proportionally get the most money from the Support Fund.
He characterized the creation of new support packages as “part of the solutions for the future”.
The meeting with Mitsotakis
It is recalled that on the sidelines of the Delphi Economic Forum, Paolo Gentiloni had a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Yesterday, the European Economic Commissioner, Paolo Gentiloni, was welcomed to his office at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance by Kostis Hatzidakis.
During the meeting, the new framework of fiscal rules, the course of implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Fund, as well as tax policy issues were discussed.
Afterwards, a meeting was held with the participation, on the part of the ministry, of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis and Deputy Ministers Haris Theoharis and Athanasios Petralias, and on the part of the European Commission, with the participation of the Director General of DG TAXUD, Gerasimos Thomas and the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Greece, Niovi Rigou.
